For this process you will need a solution of 1 teaspoon neutral detergent and 2 cups water in a spray bottle. Scrape or blot up the ketchup being careful not to spread it. Now using your detergent mixture, spray the solution on a clean towel and dab the spot gently. Work from the outside in so as not to spread the stain. Repeat this process until no more material remains or until the stain stops transferring to the towel. Next spray the area lightly with the vinegar solution. Let it dwell for a few seconds and then blot it up with a clean towel. Repeat this process to remove as much residue as possible from the carpeting. Now let the area dry thoroughly before putting it back to use and you are done.
